The New Site Format

Written by CDM Admin

As one can plainly see the site has changed dramatically. We have expanded the functionality of the entire site and included a "Secret Stash" section. Aside from the intro animation, the major changes have been in the blog. Now the public sees only a small portion of the blog entries.

The Blog

The new sections (as of now) are "Learn Stuff", "Tools & Gear" and "Industry News." These are only viewable by registered members and The Insiders. These will be tidbits of useful information we think you, the small business owner, will use. We enjoy sharing our knowledge and even like to show it off at times!

The Glossary

From time to time we at Compass Digital tend to use a lot of buzz words and geek speak. It makes us all feel important and like we know what we are talking about. To help the uninitiated we've created a glossary that will explain a lot of the terms used throughout the site. We will continually update the list of terms and keep them cross referrenced as much as possible.

The Secret Stash

Only a privileged few will have access to this section. Of course, the others should not be too jealous it is only for our clientele. It will include tutorials for the Content Management System we incorporate in most all of our sites. The tutorials will be text and video explaining step-by-step usage of every product or service we offer.

To become an Insider just contact us.

Artisteer - Create Your Own Templates

Design Like the Pros

Joomla and Wordpress are extremely powerful portals. There are so many things one can do without a lot of programming knowledge. Of course, no site, regardless of how much cool content is included, is worth its salt unless it looks nice and can be navigated easily. Creating a custom template can be a daunting task without four hundred pounds' worth of instructional books and several decades of schooling.

Content Management Systems

Coding Sucks

I can code to an extent. Although I am no novice there is much I do not know. I can write HTML with the help of a WYSIWYG program like Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage. I can even do quite a bit of Flash. When it comes to databases and more advanced coding I am lost. I have a basic understanding of how it works, but I would not even know where to begin creating an advanced site.
